can a 292 car dipstick and tube be adapted to an engine with a truck rear sump pan without to much trouble,or is it easier to find a used or after market truck pan tube thanks RFD

What engine do you have in your pickup? If it is the same it may be the same dip stick. I would check on that first, because that is something you don't want to be wrong. If it is not the same and you don't have one to check it with to see if it reads right I would get an aftermarket, or factory repo so you know that it is right.

I am installing a 292 in a 54 F250.the engine was originally a dearborn marine with the dipstick in the pan.using a standard truck pan,so I have no tube at all to start with.I have seen after market sticks but not tubes. guess I will keep looking

Is it a aftermarket oil pan or factory? If it is factory you could try LMC, if it is after I think I would go aftermarket. But I am curious you say the marine engine, had a dip stick in the pan, I think is it that the oil pan you are using is just missing the tube? If it is just missing a tube I think I know a junkyard that may have one. I know this guy tends to be a little expensive but I could ask for you.
