steering boxes?

steering boxes?

i don't know if this has been addressed here before, but what is the difference between '53-'55 boxes and '56 boxes?

Nothing, except that in 1956 Ford introduced the F-100 with the long bed option. It was the length and width of a F-250 it was on a F-100 frame.

Whoa! Sorry about that Chief! I didn't read the title!

Now, about steering boxes, I THINK they are the same BUT the steering column is shorter on the '56 to, I think, accomodate the "deep dish" steering wheel.

1953-55 steering shaft is 36 and 7/8" long, 1956 shaft is 35 and 3/8'' . Abe is correct it was due to different steering wheel
