disk brake conversion

Anyone have any advice on converting the front drum brakes to disk on my 69 F250. Do I need to replace my spindles? If so anyone know where I can get a set?

Front disc brakes were a factory option on 68-72 F250's. All you probably need to do this swap are the spindles, front disc assemblies and power booster from an F250 donor truck. The master cylinder is different, too, so get a good rebuilt or new one.

When I did my conversion, I was looking for a 70-72 f-250 with the single piston calipers. The majority of them are two pistons calipers and I've never seen them on 73-79 f-250's. What is the difference or advantage between the single and dual piston caliber.

You can also use spindles, rotors, and calipers off of a 73-79 F250, they will interchange. You also have to get the proportioning valve off the donating truck because disk brakes use less pressure than drums. I'm getting ready to do this conversion to my 1970 250 next month. Good luck.

I did a conversion on my 72 E300 van and found out you will just need the caliper braket, caliper, rotors and prop valve. spindles are the same. The braket will bolt right to your original spindle. Course brake lines will be different, rubber and steel lines. It's a great swap.

I went with dual cal's/singles on 150's
