Replaceing a water pump

Help water leak, It's coming from the water pump. My question is do I need to remove the radiator to get to the water pump? I have done water pumps on two different cars before, is this something I should try? Oops, My ride is a 97 F250 4x4, Auto, pretty much stock, 151000.0 miles. would like to do this myself and save the bucks. Thanks for the help.

Yes you will need to remove the rad you will also need to rent clutch fan removal tools they have them at auto zone . Most people say to replace the thermostat and gooseneck at this time .

I just went out and looked you might be able to leave the rad but I would still pull it just to be safe.

no, you do not need to remove the radiator. when you remove the fan, the fan shroud will have to come out with the fan.

Thanks guys for all the info it's going to be a great Help. You guys are the best when it comes to working on these trucks. I will be starting this tonight. Just a side note took the truck camping last weekend and with my 23.5' 5th wheele 8000 to 10000 lb guessing, I could pull 6% grades at 55 - 60 mph, that was floored to keep the rpms up (2500-2700) but it did it. is that good, bad or just so so? and could that have caused the water pump to fail?

Be sure to check out the steel outlet tube for rust-thru when you do the pump. I had mine pop right after the new pump went in.
My 2 cents.
