XM install was easy and I love commercial free radio. However, a new problem has occured. My Edge does not seem to light up anymore. I thought it was a bad connection, but everything is plugged in. I thought that maybe the unit was broken so I took it off and plugged it into the USB port and ran the program to see if the program recognized the unit. It does.....I read and read the instruction manual for the Edge and it says to check for fuses. Which fuse do I look for? And also, has anyone experienced this?
P.S. When I hooked it up to the USB and ran the program, I did a check for updates. It found updates, but since its on setting 3, I have to somehow return it back to stock inorder to rewrite the update...How can I do that if I cant even see the screen.....
What wires did you grab power from for your install? If memory serves me correctly, there is a fuse in the block called "Diagnostic port" or something like it.
thanks for the help. I just went outside in the pouring rain and yes, the Diagnastic port and the cigarette lighter has a fuse together. Well yesterday, during the install of my XM radio unit, we decided we were going to remove the existing cig lighter, use the hole to feed the wires and mount the satellite unit over the hole. Long story short, install came out MINT and during the process of removing the cig lighter, there was a spark=blown fuse. Should have put two and two together, but that is what this forum is all about. Thank you
I guess they really do mean it when they tell you to disconnect the battery when ever doing work on your truck. Might have to follow that sometime. ha ha
I got the Roady XT and it came with the antenna. However, my parents own their own businesses and they purchased three Roady XTs along with home kits....So which means that I have three extra XM antennas laying around. Let me know if you guys need one. Ill be more than happy to send them out to you.
As far as pictures, I do have to update my gallery. The install was a breeze and it looks almost factory. Will keep you guys posted when I have the updated gallery up
For the upper grill, to be honest, it was a bit of PITA to install. To part away the OEM innner grill from the outer painted grill was very very difficult. I ended up breaking the tabs off (no going back) and there were minor tweaking and drilling (drilling four holes under the painted OEM outer grill to mount the new Carriage grill). You have to be patient and take you time with this. I would rate it a 3 out of 10 (10 being most difficult). Carraige Works gives you a very nice instruction manual along with the grill. I think you would be happy with it
