hey all....quick question.......when i slide the torque converter back into the trans.....dont i have to push and turn it a few times till it clicks and is all the way in?? not sure if theres a wrong way to do it...hate to have to drop the trans again. thank for your help guys.... mike in NJ
Yeah, most converters have some drive notches on the shaft that MUST mate with the drive ears for the pump. Before you install the converter, make sure the drive ears are centered around the input shaft and so you have a rough idea what orientation they are in.
When you push the converter into position, it should stop GENTLY and then a turn in the correct direction should result in an additional maybe quarter inch slide in. If you have to force it something is wrong.
