FE Carb Spacer
Anyway, I pulled the carb and found it has a 1 inch Ford spacer under it (has a D5 part number and a Ford logo). The other thing I found that I didn't know is the 4bbl manifold has an EGR passage. Must be for a car application or an F-100 use. The only FEs I've seen with EGR were 360 2bbls. But I guess an F-100 could get a 390 4bbl.
So this spacer under the carb is an EGR delete spacer. It has a blister on the passenger side that blocks off the EGR passage and prevents it leaking. Now my problem. 30 years and 150,000 (250,000???) miles later, the potmetal spacer has given way at the passage and has started to erode at the barrel passage (it's a ported spacer, not open center).
I'm going to try to get one for the application, but I'm wondering if a Mr Gasket spacer would be wide enough to block the passage. My other option is to JB Weld the spacer and then take it to a machine shop and have them face mill it a couple of thousandths to true it up and provide a good sealing surface.
Anyone else experience this?
