I have about everything I need (except the time) to do this to my 82. ALL the vents behind the dash, the outside evaporator box (complete), hoses, condensor (already on), appropriate compressor+bracket+idler/tensioner, the controls, and the big one-the ENTIRE wiring harness for the cab. Which is pretty darn big and winds around about everything to do with the cab.
I don't mind too much since my dash is badly cracked around the glove box and I have found a replacement. And the harness will allow me to FINALLY be able to swap in my tachometer cluster. And cruise control even if I like.
Also I'm going to replace the entire left cab rocker and having all that stuff stripped out of the way would be helpful to me anyway.
Will fitting the AC be worth all that trouble? The first time after 10 years of owning the truck I can finally hit the AC button and frickin defog my windshield, Yes. That's just me though.
in my mind it aint worth it, u have a slider rear window and vent windows use them man, keep the truck together,i myself wouldnt mess with the wireing harness
I did it with a 92, not too bad, the a/c parts are all out under the hood, simply unblot the airbox and swap it. The wiring is the harder part, if you have full wiring harness, it would simplify. If not, all you need really is a button to turn the compressor on and off. The newer trucks did it this way, or older units had the switch in the heater control panel.A simple lighted switch is all you need. Lighted to remind you the a/c is turned on... The air box will swap easy as long as you don't have the high output heater...
