I need help! I have a 1982 Ford Lariet ½ ton Supercab shortbed truck. I had a 1991 Dual port fuel injection engine put in it several years ago. I have a problem no one had been able to fix. The truck runs great until you turn it off and try to drive it again before it has had a chance to cool off. If it isn’t cooled then it dies at slower speeds. Once I get going faster again and not stopping it’s fine. The computer is mounted under the hood and it gets so hot I can’t lay my hand on it. Is that normal? Could this be the problem? Also, some one told me the module on the distributor could be bad. Any suggestions. Thanks, Greg
I think you are talking about the Duraspark II module, located on the left fender skirt.
If it gets that hot, it should definately be replaced.

The only computer controlled engines in these trucks around 1982 that I know of were in California on the 300-I6's. Unless your vehicle is from California, and a 300-I6, I don't think you have a computer.
Look in my gallery, for my 1981 F-150, you can find it by clicking on my user name.
Inside that gallery you can see a MCU computer, and below it is the seperate duraspark II ignition module.
