I have a stock 2006 250 4x4 with 17" wheels. It has 265/70's on it i need tires would 315/70's on the stock wheels have any trouble rubbing and what have any effect on the speedometer. I don't think there will be any problem just wanting any advice. Thanks
I have a friend that has 315's and as far as I know their is no rubbing. You are going to have to recalibrate your speedo any time you change wheel or tire sizes from stock. I am thinking of going 315's on my rig as well. I don't want to spend the money on 285's and be disappointed in the size. After all size does matter.
I'm also interested in this issue. I have the same setup. I like the look of a bigger tire, but I don't want to get crazy with it. Went to a local shop for ideas and he told me that he recommended going to 17x9 rims (stock are 17x7.5) and 285's and that I would need a 2.5" leveling kit, bigger front shocks, dual front stabilizers and an alignment. I'd like to hear from a guru or two as to how useful these mods would be. He also said he could probably get 305's or 315's in there, too. Thanks!
Edit: I think this thread should have gone in the SuperDuty forum, but I trust it will be moved if necessary.

I had a 04 F350 with 315/70/16, came out to 35's BF Goodrich Mud Terrian and the only rubbing I had was when I made hard left hand turns. The truck is at stock height with leaf springs.. My 06 that I have now has 18" rims and the same tires on it 315/75/18 and I have no rubbing.
Why can't any other FORD truck ownner live closer to me I have a set of BFG's 315-70-17 AT on MT wheels I need to get rid of set them cheep there 50 to 60% tread life on them still I want them to go to a good home.
No holes no plugs I just went to larger tire.
Good info guys, I have some Moto Metal 17x9 for my 2005 4x4 and I am trying to choose a tire. I want to keep a good load rating for towing my 8000lb Bobcat, but it seems hard to find bigger than stock with a good load rating. I like the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo but biggest with a load rating is the stock size. I would go up to 305 or 315 if I can fit them without a lift and if I can find some with a suitable load rating... any suggestions?
I use to have a set on my truck great tire I just wanted a larger tire than they make I went to the MT ATZ So far It's been a good tire I only have 2000 to 3000 miles on them so far.
The BFG has long tread life AT low noise I wish they made them larger and wider I heard a lady said she gotten 70000 out of set but she was driving a Toyota Mini Truck.
I been told make sure buy a D or E rated tire for the SD they weight a lot they will go though low rated tire very Quick.
