Hello

2000 FORD EXCURSION XLT
1FMNU40L2YEC25204
4 DR. WAGON/SPORT UTILITY
5.4L V8 PFI SOHC 16V / REAR WHEEL DRIVE
Now that I have it what can I do to it to increse fuel economy? I do not ever plan to tow anything with it, we got it for a people mover.

since its low miles and fairly new I worry about doing the typical MSD 6a box and air raid etc as i have heard that short term they are great but long term are bad for the car. I typicaly hang onto a vechicle for 10 years or more (if it aint broke beyond repair dont replace it is my moto)
looking forward to all your helpful suggestions
thank you in advance
Unfortunately you bought the wrong truck for mpg. There isn't much that you can do to get better mpg. Yes, there all kinds of add ons but you will be lucky to get 1 mpg out of them and you will spend hundreds of dollars. You payback will take so long that you probably won't have the truck.
Just drive and enjoy. Easy on the gas peddle and, on the highway, drive as slow as you can stand and still be safe.
Always driving down hill works well if you can figure out how to do it!!!
most my driving is highway so i suppose if i keep it at 65mph or less ill get 14~16
maybe it might help if i have the fluids drained and replaced with synthetics. there is always that front grappler bar option that allows you to on the fly attach yourself to a 18 wheeler for improved fuel economy
When I was talking about buying the wrong truck for mpg I was talking about an Excursion in gereral. My 2005 6.0 4x4 gets about 16-17 on the highway at 75 but there isn't a place that is flat ANYWHERE around here.
You will do fine. Since you aren't towing the 5.4 will do fine. Add mods if you want to add mods...not for mpg.
Nice truck!
just worried they would do more harm than good i dont mind spending a k to get it set up with some goodies even if the returns are small but i dont want to actualy in the long term hurt my car
mods to make it more my car rather than one like everyone elses
