Ford Blue, to the best of my knowledge, from reading original FoMoCo the Lit, w/ & w/o Pix, that I keep attempting to add to my collection from this time frame, was Not used during the '48-'60 era of trucks.
Blocks were painted Green, Black, Yellow, Red, Pewter (Argent), & I belive 1 or 2 other colours as well, I have yet to find a reference to Blue of any shade.
Trans were mostly Pewter (Argent), but also painted to match the block in some cases.
Valve Covers were, depending on the colour used on the block, Pewter (Argent), Black or Red.
Air Cleaner Cans were Black, Red or White.

Although my truck is a 51, my engine is a 72 302, and the color of the block was the dark Ford Blue, but did they paint the trans and the header covers blue as well?
I've never seen any automatic painted, and ol Henry didn't waste any money on two-tone engine schemes. Everything on the long block was blue -- air cleaners too -- I have a '72 302 air cleaner in my shed.
Paint it the way you want, no one is going to mistake a 302 for a Y-block!
