I know, i know its not even a ford but i need help. I just bought a 1970 firebird and i cant even get the hood open. I can pop it, but it wont lift out. It seems like its still caught in a latch or something. Anyone know?
The front clip is probably misaligned, or the latch is rusted. You're going to have to make something that can hook the latch from underneath, and pull the little tab down (most GM's have that "feature" in those days). A coat hanger is probably too thin, and will bend.
If you see the tab I mentioned, know that on every vehicle I own, I tie fishing line to that tab, and let it hang down to almost the chassis. This way, should that ever happen to me, I clip vice grips on the fishing line and yank, and the hood opens.
