What are you planning on using to replace the EEC system? I would recommend keeping the egr unless you are racing this truck. You can back date it to keep it working, but for highway cruise, it helps with efficiency a bit. As for spark control, you could backdate it to duraspark, or some type of aftermarket ignition. Then there is the fuel metering... Now if you are calling the duraspark the EEC, then the two plugs are the power supply and the wiring to the distributor. There are 2 power levels, one for starting, the other for regular operation. Unfortunately, to me, you info is a shade weak, so more on what you plan and what you have would be helpful.
A little patience too, please, we aren't all just sitting at the computer waiting for someone to ask a question, we still have other things to do...
hey all, im new here i have a 84 f-150 ext.cab long box, freaking huge. it has the iron horse 300-six with the c-6 i think.... its 4x4 with trak loc front and rear. 33x12.5 tires 15x8 crager d-wall rims, blk, rusty body but thats next.ok here is me question im in the middle of taking out the eec and all the wiring and the unneeded van lines and the egr and air pump,so my question is that when i unplugged the eec there was another plug next to it,do i need to keep this pluged in and wut are these wires for, then on the driver side fender there is three plugs that go to the eec,wut do i do with these? thx all great to be at a place with people that know wut they are doin
ok,it will be used in the winter only, and wont see the highway, only in the country work that my other truck cant do.it will, most likely just be my toy,so i dont worry about the egr and such, plus i have many other things to upgrade the engine. i am getting rid of the eec/tfi set up for the back dated duraspark 2 set up with a good old carb.so i am just wondering on the plugs on the driverside fender, and the plug that was next to the eec..thx,and sorry for being impatiant,i want to get this project done by the end of this week end,thx
It's been a while, but if I recall correctly, the white wire is the 12 volt, and the other is the regular run, which is about 9 volt I think, then the other plug goes to the distributor.I doubt that it will just plug in, rather, you will have to do some wiring work.
i need to know about the the plugs that come form the fire wall that are on the driver side fender,i know how to wire the duraspark, have don it many times, thx
all i need to know is do i need those plugs that are coming from the firewall onto the fender that plugged into the old eec ,wut do i do with them? thx,it would be nice to know by next weekedn if possible, thx all
If they were to the eec system, you don't need to worry about them, just be sure none of the guages run through them, and do whatever you want with them. I did a 460 injected to a Cummins diesel swap, and tapped into a few for the guages and ignition, and the rest collect dust and crud... I unplugged it, and unfortunately, the big plug is still there, as not much else I could do short of hacking it all off... I spliced into the harness on the back side of the plug, and did away with the harness on the engine. You could clip your wiring back, and leave only the guage wiring, but personally, I would take the harness, tuck the unused wires into a loop or such, and just tie them up, just in case you should decide to go back.
