I have a 89 302 fuel injected bronco with 150,000. I stored it all winter starting it every month or so. One time i went to start it and it just turns over. I have my brake lights and turn lights directly affecting my fuel gauge. Possible short between all 3???? but i can't find the short??? It will run on Brake cleaner through the throttle body. I am at a loss here. I have the dash apart looking for ground issues. How can i check the EEC or computer. I have fuel coming out the scrader valve so i should have good fuel pressure. I don't think high pressure pump is staying on when i go to turn the truck to the start position??? Any possible suggestions and help is much appreciated. THanks to all.
The "3" you are talking about is an aftermarket "starter kill" sort of security I take it? Usually there is a box that you can unplug and the truck should start fine without it and no special "movements" This would at least take that out of the picture of help you find out if it is the cause.
I would check for codes first.....and go from there.
(No....the check engine light does not have to be on to have codes stored)
The only tool you will need to pull all the codes is a paper clip.......if your unsure how to do it click on this link. http://fordfuelinjection.com/?p=13
