I had a question for ya'll my tie rod on the driver side has stripped and unconnected. Its the end were you adjust the stearing alignment. So i went to Auto Zone and found the new part and it looked pretty simple to replace. When i took off the cotter pin and unscrewed the bolt to take the other side of the tie rod off, the side that moves with the steering of the vehicle and that you shoot grease in. The thing won't come out. I hit it with a hammer several times to hammer it out and it won't move. Anybody had one of these things stick before when changing the front end. Oh, i have a 93 fullsize bronco and have been the owner for all but the first year of its life. I love this truck and want to get back to driving her.
Those are a pain you need either a tie rod removal on an air hammer that works best but they also sell a fork at the local parts stores. JUST pound that in between the tie rod and that whole knuckle and keep hitting. They are a pain sometimes. Bigger the hammer the better. Have fun.
a 3lb sledge hammer ans a pickle fork will work like a charm. if you dont have a pickle fork hit the tie rod directly. there should be a little nub coming off the side. hit there and pull down on the tie rod at the same time and it will let go
Something I learned years ago, Hit the side of the steering arm at the hole where the end goes thru with about a two three pound hammer and it will come out. No other tool needed, workes on tapered ends of ball joints as well.
