if your keys are in the ignition it should do that as a safety issue. If they are in your hand you have an issue. give some more info. Are the doors staying locked while you're driving? Do the locks work properly all the time? etc.
It is a Ford. It is supposed to unlock when you pull on the inside handle to get out. They have done that for over 30 years. You must be used to being locked in a GM.
busdriver, what jbullfrog is saying (and you didn't specify) is if you pushed the lock switch, THEN opened the door, the lock would re-open. You'd have to repush the lock button on the armrest again to insure it stays locked. I was ASSUMING that you DID open the door, push the lock switch and the lock won't.
It won't let you lock the key fob in the truck. You have to be outside of the truck with the door open then try to lock it before you close the door. If the remote is within the cab it won't let the drivers door lock with the switch.
It's called "Smart Lock". The problem is, it's stupid. I can't lock my keys in my truck because I have a keypad to unlock the doors.
This so-called feature has got to be the stupidest thing on these trucks and probably cars.
If I lock my keys in the car it's my problem, although it's really difficult when I have the remote in my hand trying to lock the freakin' door.
Shut the door and it will lock. I have the same problem, I am usually attempting to lock the doors as I' getting out. If you push the door lock manually, it will stay down.
I want mine disconnected but the dealer couldn't figure out how.
I have the same problem, BUT, it ONLY started doing this after I disconnected the damn door dinger wire from the key switch. The truck still thinks the keys are in the ignition. Just have to deal with it. I just hit the door button, when the drivers doors pops back up, I just push it down by hand and go about my business. Not that big of a deal really.
Took my truck to the dealer he told me all ford truck are like this said it is a safety feature. I guess it is better than chevy my 2002 2500hd If the doors were locked you could not open door until you unlocked them.
