finally fixed I hope
I have had intermittent problems for about 1 year now. 1st problem about a year ago I was coasting to a stop (red light) when it turned green stepped on accelerator and nothing and I mean nothing truck just continued to idle and puff black smoke shifted into neutral and stepped on it finally cleared up after 2 or 3 minutes and tons of black smoke. This happened 3 different times and in the shop twice but could never find what was wrong because no codes. Lately truck was down on power especially low end and puffed black smoke under take off until turbo spooled up. I have also complained about a rattle noise in the exhaust when I shut off the truck since day one (truck bought in 11/03) but was told that it was probably normal (2 different dealers). Well took truck to third different dealer and was expecting same nothing wrong call but to my surprise they called and said it was fixed. The egr valve was bad the truck now has more power than ever and the rattle in the exhaust is gone. Well I guess the moral of the story is when you take your truck in I guess it all depends on who the mechanic is if your truck gets fixed or not. Andy
