Red face Styleside vs. Fleetside

I have such a basic question I'm afraid to ask but I'm trying to get a bumper and the question is: What's the difference between Styleside and Fleetside?

ford has the new trucks listed as <TABLE border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=modelSelect vAlign=top width=90>Flareside</TD><TD class=modelSelect align=left colSpan=4>Styleside</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

the styleside is the normal box

thanks...alright... parts are funny, the different vendors present the bumpers with different descriptions and detail, some are bolted and cite how far apart the bolt holes are... mines 37.5 apparently, after measuring...

Its another competition between brands. Chevy called their long and short wide beds Fleetside while Ford called them Styleside and Chevy called their short narrow bed's Stepside while Ford called them Flareside.

Well there you go! Some did mention narrow or wide bed too... thanks for clearing that up. For bumper purposes one would think they'd be the same but I gather they are not... got to be careful ordering something that big since it can't be returned easily.

thanks guys

Yep. if one weren't careful you could end up with a Chebby bumper on your Ford

There is a big difference in most years between a styleside and a flareside bumper so be cautious.

You could always order one for a "Sweptside/ Sweptline/Utililine".. but that would be a Dodge

Dang, well they've got to be distinctive else they'd be like political parties.

Bed crossmembers

Is there a difference in the bed cross members with the Styleside and Flareside? !979 F150.
