Two things,
The actual switch is located on top of the steering column under the dash near the brake pedal. Could be loose.
The rod that runs from the key switch to the electrical switch could be breaking or bent. Also the piece it attaches to at the key switch is made of pot metal, I have read several posts about the pot metal cracking.
