Tilt Steering removal! How?

I am in the middle of replacing the actuator arm in my steering colum. From what i've been told by the dealer parts person, and from what i've read here, I have to remove the tilt mechanism. I removed the 3 allen screws from behind the shroud. the whole tilt assembly is loose, but it don't come out. What am I missing? I have read that some of you have replaced many of these actuators. I need help. I have to get my truck back together.
thanks in advance.

I was looking at the tilt mechanism closer this morning while i was waiting for my ride to work. Do I have to remove the snap ring at the base of the shaft before this thing will come off? Calling all tilt steering experts. help a brother out.
thanks

there should be 2 pins, one on each side of the tilt mechanism. screw a #8(i think) machine screw into the end of the pin, and pulling the screw head, pull the pin out.

Thanks Tom.
I finally pulled hard enough and my tilt mechanism and steering shaft came out. I did not know it could come apart inside the column (under the dash). I took the whole assembly to my mechanic and he showed me how those pins come out. He had a special tool. The only thing he didn't have time to do for me was to put the tilt spring back in. (he didn't charge me for 15 minutes of work, nice guy). And like a dumba$$, I somehow lose the spring. It's a discontinued part at Ford. I dont know what the heck i'm to do now. I've been told that i can just do without it, and the wheel will still work. anyway, thanks again.
