Shouldn't be a problem. I can't remember if the gas tank on the 55 was inside or on the frame so that might be an issue since the 56 is inside. Of course if your going IFS you will most likely change the tank also.

As I recall, the rear springs on the 56 frame are about 2 inches longer. The running board brackets on the driver side are different also. They pick up the (same) running board in the same location, but the 55 has a shape to seat the gas tank. The 56 tank is in the cab behind the seat. Other than that, they are identical.

The 55 and 56 frames are interchangable (rear springs are the same length).
The 53 and 54 have the shorter springs
The main differences between the 55 and 56 are the running board brackets and the shock mounts, but you can interchange them as you wish.
