First year for cat converter?

I had a 2001 F-250 that had no converter, but a co-worker of mine has a 2000 WITH one. I'm guessing his truck is a California emissions truck, but did Ford start putting cats on all of their 7.3 trucks? If so, what year? I'm looking for a replacement truck, and I would like to avoid the converter if at all possible. Thanks...

holy crap, your truck was STOLEN? damn that is horrible, i feel for you, and ironic how it is on my dad's birthday. i went to court that day. that is horrible, hope you get it back

anyway to the thread- i dont think there WAS a year that ALL of the trucks had cat's on them. my 2002 didn't, but im sure that all of the CA emissions trucks had cats on them since 1995.

Thanks for the info Strokin. The insurance company now owns the truck. They declared it an unrecovered total loss, and I signed it over to them on May 30th. I'll find what I'm looking for eventually, it's just been a real pain so far

Just look up under them. My '02 didn't come with one either. You should be able to find more without a cat than with.

My early 99 came with one. I think the later 99's didn't, then the 200's had one because the power rating went up.

I don't know which ones had cats and which ones didn't. My brother has a 97 (cat), 99 (cat), 99 1/2(no cat), 00 (no cat), and a couple others I don't know about. My '00 had no cat. The new 5-inch exhaust doesn't either.

No, it was not recovered. My insurance company's policy on theft is that if it's not recovered by three weeks after the date the truck was reported stolen, it is declared a total loss that was not recovered. I'm looking at a 2002 tonight, hopefully this will be the one!

Heh, yep... ..they always look at it, just don't pay attention to the fact that there aint nothin' there.

Wants a power stroke...I feel BAD for you! I worry about my stroke gettin' stolen one of these days. I'm having anxiety just thinking about it.

Anything we can do to help find ya another one?
