MP3 player input

I have a 2004 f150 built Sept. 04 that has the non mp3 6 disc stereo. I found an adaptor that plugs into the cd changer input that will allow me to use an external mp3 player. Does anyone know if this will work with my early model stereo? I've read on here that Ford changed radio manufacturers at some point even though the stereos look the same. Any help would be appreciated.

What "adaptor" did you find exactly? There's one or two out there, but the Ford stereo (as of the newer body style) is very particular!

talk to PIE ( precision Interface electronics)
they will get you the correct CanBuss aux adapter for your year radio.

yes, there are slight differences in the radios and communication software. so be sure to specify 2004, they may even ask you to press a sequence of numbers on the radio to get the software level....(for 2004 )

I wish Ford would get into the 20th Century and offer an Aux jack to plug in my Ipod.

As soon as Apple pays them to do so, I'm sure they'll oblige.

Its not even just used for IPODs, all MP3 players use the same type of jacks, lots of manufactures are including these.

I know. But Ford doesn't make the radio head units that they put into these vehicles. They're under contract with their supplier, etc. for "x" number of years. So, until that supplier decides to provide them with a multi-function unit at roughly the same cost, Ford can only sit and wait. It's business ... not personal. The consumer is going to buy this truck regardless. Sure, we'd all love to have that input/jack option. I know I would've bought a 60GB iPod last year had this been an easy option. But, since I don't want to mess with the PIE, etc., I'll just listen to the radio and my CDs for the time being.

I noticed my factory stereo has another aux input when you turn it on by the aux button(it has sirius sat. too). I just need to find out how to plug in to it..
