I have an 02 F250 PSD. I traded a 00 F250 5.4. The 00 had the plow prep and came with a nice 8ft commercial meyer polly plow (CP8). I kept the plow/lift/lights/mount when I traded. It is my understanding that my 02 didn't have a plow prep option cause of the PSD weight. If one added the X springs from the plow prep is that a total spring replacement or just adding a leaf? Guess it would not be a good idea running the plow without spring upgrade. Plow specs list it at almost 800 pounds I think. Are the X springs enough, as I wonder why Ford wouldn't have the package for the PSD if the X springs existed for gas models.
i changed out my stock springs for my leveling kit, and i don't know if my truck had the X springs. ill check soon and get back with you. i could give you the springs so i dont have them sitting at my shop...
however we have a 2002 f-350 with plow package, and a 7.5' steel meyer plow. if you don't have counterweight in the back (we normally use 2400 pounds of bag salt on a pallet) and you get enough traction that you don't need to plow in 4wd most times, and it eliminates the u-joint torque steer. we also have a 2000 F-350 dually and it has the plow package, also think it's the X springs. it sits a little more level when there is no weight, only because it has 2" rear blocks.
I have a Western V plow on my truck and it is fine and it weighs about 900 lbs. i dont have 2 put weight in the back end since i got rid of the stock tires and put the 285's BF Goodrich on it I was considering putting air bags on my but kinda up in arm about it any pointers?
would the x springs off of a 2001 v10 truck be the same as the x springs for my 2001 psd? Abuddy believes his had the plowprep and he took them off when he put in a 8" superlift, how can we tell for sure if he did have the plow package?
