I just found and joined this site while searching the net for a solution to my air bag light problem. I have a 1994 f150 and tonight the air bag light started flashing. after a while driving, I noticed it seemed to be flashing a code. 32 I search this site and found a couple of answers. One was some thingie called a clockspring and another post said an open wire. Is there a method to testing this circuit to find the actual problem. none of the wiring diagrams I have say anything about the air bag and frankly I was always scared to fool with that bag. I just restored this truck from the frame up and all was well for 300 miles till this light started flashing. any help is greatly appreciated. .......Mark
Hi Mark, The code should be "23". Your horn dosen't blow & cruise not work? If so , then yes, it is the clock spring. It allows power to the switches on the face of the steering wheel. Shoot, thats how I wound up here. The info you need when doing a search sometimes winds up buried in tons of posts & you might not get a response because its been covered so many times.
The clock spring seems to have been an issue with ford products for some time. Prob'ly cuz the conductors are so small & they become fatiuged each time you move the wheel. Especially when you go lock to lock frequently.
Mine was $114 @ my dealer when I couldn't locate an aftermarket one. Just follow the standard airbag safety procedures outlines in any repair manual.(disconnect bat, wait 15 min) & you'll be fine. Go back & do a "clock spring" search for more details. Good Luck, D
A code 32 is the one I had on my truck also.
It means Driver Side Air Bag Circuit High Resistance or Open.
Mine was an open wire and I installed a jumper wire around the open circuit in the harness above the left front tire. I have had not had any more problems and the light is off.
No, it is definitely a 32. I don't have cruise but my horn does work. There aren't any problems except that little air bag light flashing. I hate to take the steering wheel off just to check that spring. .......... mark
When I got my 95 F150 I had a 32 also. It turned out to be an open wire in the harness. I cut both ends of the wire where it when in to the harness and came out and put a jumper to the two wires. I jumped from the main firewall plug to the plug for the left sensor. That fixed it and I have no more problems with it.
The wire that was open in the harness was a yellow wire with a light green stripe, wire number 625 but the Pink wire with a white stripe #619 could do it also.
Thanks for the info. I am going to try checking this thing out. Just for giggles and grins.. can anyone tell me where that SAFING sensor is? I built this truck from the frame up and don't recall anything that could be it. That means maybe it is under the dash somewhere???? That is the only place I didn't tear up. ........ Mark
The SAFING sensor is in the Passenger side door pillar or if you have an Ex. Cab it is to the right of the back seat passenger behind the panel about one ft. up from the floor.
