Well it's father's day and my truck decided to blow a fuel line, the driver's side. Any suggestions before I replace it, ie. aftermarket fuel line or something. It blew just after the FPR where it makes a nasty 90+ degree turn to go to the driver's side of the engine. My plan is to replace BOTH sides at the same time.
If you want a quick fix to get it done today you can run down to the parts store and get a piece of SAE 30R-9 high pressure injection hose and some clamps and splice into the hard line.
Well....there's a few folks that have constructed their custom fuel systems entirely out of 30R-9, and I have a few feet of it on the truck myself. It's plenty durable.
As far as stock replacements.....You can replace with stock tubing, or bend your own tubes...whatever you want. Assuming you're keeping the same i.d of the line the stock stuff is as good as anything.
Thanks cookie I will see if any of the parts house around here have any today. I take it regular hose clamps will hold that high of pressure. Or is there a particular style I should go with. Man ya'll are great on here I really appreciate the help.
how do I get the bracket off that holds the air pump and p/s pump? I took off three long bolts but can't get it off. GGGRRRRRR I already took the a/c off.
Never mind I found the forth bolt up and under the air pump pulley. Are you sure I can use SAE30R-90 hose for the hose going from the fuel pressure regulator to the engine block/head. It has compression type fittings. I don't want to blow the line again.
I got the truck fixed today (monday). Ford wanted almost $75 for the fuel lines and had to order them not in stock. I went to napa and had them make them for me. I also had them make them a bit longer to keep from having the 180 degree turn on the driver's side such a tight turn and breaking again. And by the way DO NOT use SAE30R-9 fuel hose on the lines from the FPR to the engine/head. IT WILL BLOW if you do. Those two lines that go from the FPR to the engine/head are HIGH pressure lines. The driver's side line had no markings as to what kind of line it was, I did find on the passenger side the markings SAE100-6 on it. So it a good idea I waited to get to a napa and have them custom made. Just thought I'd let everyone know. The fix is not hard just time consuming. I had to get the a/c off the air pump and p/s p pump off and out of the way to get to the fitting on the driver's side. Thanks again cookie for your help.
