I'm on vacation with my family. Our 2000 F-250 7.3L PSD Superchip has been running very well while pulling our 10,000 lb trailer. Yesterday, while unhitched and after a day of driving around town, the Oil and the Water dash lights went on during a cold start and never came off. The oil pressure guage appears dead, reading no pressure at all. The oil level and coolant level are both good. Is this some kind of electrical issue or should I start to worry?
If that doesn't work the ford guys in town are pretty good people and will help you out. if you need any help getting it there shoot me an email I'm up on base and could tow you in.

Welcome to FTE. I can tell by that post you're our kinda people.

Crank it up and let it idle for a couple of minutes. If you are having an actual oil pressure problem the high pressure reservoir will drain within a matter of minutes and the the truck will die.
You might also try unhooking the batteries for a couple of minutes to see if it's a glitch that will correct itself.
Great first post hookd. Welcome to Ford Truck Enthusiasts.
Thanks for the props guys thats what happens when you break down in a small town, plenty of people willing to help you out. One other thing I forgot to ask did you check all your fuses? Keep us posted
Wow! You guys are impressive! Thanks, Hookd. I am at Dick's RV Park, which is just down the road from Bison Ford. I let the truck idle for a few minutes today and it sounded as good as usual. Tomorrow morning, I am going to drive it over there (just over 2 miles). If it shows any signs of seizing up then I will call for a tow from AAA, but I think I'll make it. Your offer is very generous, but I don't want to be a burden.
A guy at the RV park tried to help me diagnose this too. He thinks that it is merely a fuse because the oil pressure guage is not working and both the Oil and Water Temp lights are on. Neither of us had any schematics of the fuse boxes so we did not monkey with anything.
Great Falls is a nice town to break down in. Friendly people everywhere! Wish me luck!
Maybe just piece of mind? When I first got my used 7.3l (I'd had it for maybe a week?) I went to go drive home from work one day and my oil pressure guage started acting whacky. Up, down, dead, fluttering, all over the place. Being that this was my first diesel, all types of horrible, expensive sitations started flashing through my head. After all, the ink on my loan from the credit union was still fresh.
Since i'd had a bad day that day (and the truck was running perfectly) I just went inside and went to bed. The next morning I went outside to fiddle with it, and she wouldn't start. Chug chug chug, no start. Again, the oil pressure guage was all over the place when I tried to start the truck.
Looking around the motor I noticed the gooped up battery terminals. I saw the white buildup when I was inspecting the truck before I bought it, and knew I needed to clean them, but had planned on doing so when I changed my fuel filter as planned the next day.
Half box of baking soda and a wire brush later, problem solved. The truck was well maintained, but had sat in a garage for about a year prior to me taking her "off his hands".
Electrical problems can be big deal, but extremely hard to evaluate without actually looking at the truck itself. I am sure the guys in this forum would have the problem SOLVED and FIXED already, if the truck was in front of them that is.
Good luck. I'll cross my fingers for a simple solution.
Hey no problem I just went through the fuze problem yesterday. All HVAC on mine was only comming through the defroster so I read up on it in here and checked the vacuum lines under the dash and everything looked good. Decided to pull the fuze pannel and see what was going on and sure enough one 10a fuze later the wifes got A/C blowing in her face again. Hopefully you get it going again and can enjoy your vacation. Let us know if you need anything. GOOD LUCK!
This forum helped me out on the road last week, hope your up soon. Owners manual has fuse diagrams....cps, I dont think thats bad from the sound of it. Troy...bumping this to the top.
