Heater Valve

My heater valve was leaking and since we've had a couple of days of hundred degree heat I decided to replace it.

I took it out and closed off the hoses and had my first ride without hot feet to the auto parts store, bought a nice new plastic valve, put it in and I've got hot feet again.

Does it make any diffrence on which leg the valve goes? It has an arrow, is it sensitive to direction?

Is it possible the cable needs adjusted? Mabye it's not letting the valve close all the way.

My plumbing may not be right, but on my '70, the hose by the fender has the valve, and it feeds from the intake. The hose closer to the engine runs straight to the water pump.

I get good heat, and when I slide the control lever to the cold side, I get no heat! Except what comes from the manifolds, pipes, and steel floor.

The valve is fully closed, I checked that. I think my valve may be on the wrong hose.

I'm not positive, but I think the arrow should point in the direction of the water flow. It should point towards the cab.
