Ok i know every one has gotten tired of gear raion questions so ill give you guys/gals two in one. ok my truck is a 1976 ford f-250 with 38 inch super swampers on it and i want to put 44's on it but i'm clue less about gear ratio.
what size gears should i put in it if i use 44 inch tires?
Also my friend has 50 inch tires what gears wloud you put in then i might just put them 50s on insted of the 44s but still would like to know the ratio for both tires
i would like the truck to have speed on take off and speed of 65 at regular rpms basicly i want the truck to be fast and i don't care about gas. also it has a 4 speed with creeper gear thanks for all that reply
I think the first question you need to ask yourself is "how the heck am I going to stop this thing".As tire size goes up- brake capacity falls-FAST. I've seen too many big tired trucks on top of cars cause they couldn't stop.
They have several calculators that will tell you the effective gear ratio after upsizing your tires. I didn't think you could get 50" tires without going to some custom military axle conversion. Good Luck!!
