Intake manifold choice

I have a 1985 F250 4X4 with 4 speed transmission. It started life as a diesel, then a '74 Merc 460 gas engine. When that engine wore out I installed a 460 out of a 76 Lincoln. For the first couple of years after the transplant it ran great. Now I'm having carb problems, hard to start after setting for a few days due to the gas "running out", and it idles rough. I'm considering installing a Edlebrock performer intake and a Holley 600. Is this a good swap? I have the Holley from the old engine and have had good luck with them. I've never worked on a spread bore like that is on the Lincoln engine. I use the truck for towing so need good low end torque. I seldom run the engine past 2500 RPM. Thanks in advance for shareing any experience in this area.

I have an 86 F250 4x4 460 C-6. I run an Edelbrock Performer manifold with a 4160 600CFM Holley. I really like the set up myself. I get 9.5-10.5 mpg general driving, and 5.5-6.5 mpg towing a 10,000# travel trailer. One mod I did that really gave me towing power was install a Cloyes True Street Roller timing chain and set it 4 degrees advanced TDC. Helped pulling power and gas mileage. before 4.5-5.5 mpg
