Cool Truck security

Last Tuesday one of the fine locals took the time to destroy my door lock and relieve my wife of her pocketbook (I know, our error for thinking a locked vehicle should mean something) Within a 26 minute period they went to three different businesses and charged $1200.00.

I know I won't have to pay those charges, but it was $230 to fix the door, plus another $600 worth of contents lost. I had the repair place install a Jimmy Jammer to slow them down next time, but is there anything stronger and more reliable??

What really bothers me is that these businesses (Shell, Chilis and Target) are so greedy for money they don't even ask to see I.D. I'm trying to look at this as an inexpensive lesson on protecting my assets.

Main thing is dont ever leave anything out in the open for thieves to see. A car alarm will not do crap for a smash and grab. I mean how many times have you heard a car alram go off and ignored it (unless it was in your driveway). You can install all of the gadgets you want on your vehicle to prevent someone from getting in. I hate to say it but it wont work. If they cant Jimmy it they will smash the window if they see something they like. About the only thing you can do to prevent a thief is to remove the temptation.

Occassionally I need to leave my truck in the long term parking at the airport. When I do I always leave the glovebox and center console open. If someone peeks in they dont have to wonder what treasures are hidden - because they can see there's nothing worth breaking in for.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Nothing makes me madder then some punks busting my stuff that I worked hard for.

Yeah, same thing with my wifes purse, it wasn't in the open though. Within a half an hour the guy went to a pet shop and bought 2 $1500 parrots + cages for some reason, I asked the guy at the pet store why he let the mexican guy with tattoos on his face use the card and he said "well, he showed me your wifes license" (my wife has blonde hair, obviously not her!!) and (I had to do the investigating!!!!! The police are worthless!!!!! then went to SHELL and filled up 4 of his buddies cars, bought food, beer cartons of cigarettes....... The police said they couldn't prove it was him just because he was caught on camera and the cashier identified him AND got the license number!!!!!!!! WTF?????!!!!!! Anyway, my brother in law is a big ol' probation officer that loves his job and I gave him the picture and license number and I will say no more. Sorry to hear about that.
