That F..... Wire Again!
I have a '99' with the 4.6. My father has a '97' with the V6. Both of us have had the main battery lead (batt. to starter) rot out at the starter TWICE. That's four times between us! Guess what I'm doing today....fixing number 5! Has anyone had similar problems? Anyone know if there's a recall on it?

My father in law has a 94 f150, that had the same problem. The truck is in perfect condition, with only about 70 k, on it. The cable even looked like new, but was bad. A new one solved the problem. NorminN.B.

Maybe you should get an aftermarket cable with a few inches extra length. Coat the end that fails with silicone grease. The extra length will allow you to route it away from the heat sources. Maybe upgrade to the next larger diameter while you are at it.

Sounds like an expensive Ford part to be changing so often. If it were me I would just get an upgrade cable then add the two wires and the fusable link on to the battery + with a ring connector.
