bullet proof trans?
all right i m building quite a rig and i want a bullet proof manual trans to put in it. its started as a 87 f 150 but it got completly stripped frame was boxed im putting in a cage, a pair of dana 60 underneath and of corse a efi460 power plant and 12in of lift, but i dont no what kind of trans obiously it needs to have a granny gearbut also im going to still want it steetable(to show it of course) so i would really like a 5 speed. so that were i sit i was possibly thinking a nv4500 but i dont no ifthat would bolt to a ford bellhousing or if ther were other options

NV4500. AA adapter plate is $218, make your own pilot bushing. You can mate a ford 205 to a dodge 4x4 NV with a 29 spline HD 205 input and a pre-94 cummins 4x4 NP205-getrag adapter housing. Or go with a clark or a car tranny, but those have thier problems as well, especially adapting them to a T-case. What do you need a 5 speed for? Why not just go 435? They're cheap, everything bolts up and they work fine.
