Cracked distributor cap
I pulled off my distributor cap today to clean it up and promptly dropped it on the garage floor. Took a little chunk out of the bottom rim and put a vertical crack in it up to the top. It was still mostly in one piece, so I threw it back on the truck and it seems OK.
Is this something I should replace right away or is it a "run it as long as it works" kind of thing?

At least buy a new cap to carry with you for emergencies. I suspect the first time it rains, enough moisture will find its way into the distributor, you will have to change the cap to make it start. I drove with a cracked cap for a few months and the first time I drove through a 1/2" puddle, the engine died and would not restart until it dried out inside the cap.
