Vss ?

Vss ?
Need some input... every once in a while the speedo' would either quit working or the needle would bounce ( also shuting off the cruise ), but it would straighten up and work fine . This past week the speedo' quit working altogether, except for one time it bounced a few times, then nothing . So... before I replace the VSS I wanted to get y'alls opinion... Do y'all think it's the VSS or should I look for something else . Maybe related, and maybe not... The ABS light has been on since I bought the truck but will ocasionally go off and the ABS will work ( personaly I don't like ABS ) , any thought on this ?

Sounds like the vss to me. B4 you buy one, remove the vss from the diiferential and clean the metal shavings off the end of it. Look inside at the exciter ring on the gear for damaged or missing teeth.
Another ABS sensor is located on the master cylinder that may need attention. It also makes Cruise control act up too.

I had similar symptoms in mine, too. Turns out that the PSOM (programmable speedometer/odometer module) was the culprit. It's a $660 fix, so I don't have cruise yet. (And yes, I replaced the VSS & checked the ring.)
