The computers are not usually culprits for dieing. There are millions of computers out there that will work for your truck.
Find another truck that has the same engine - and doesn't have a computer controlled transmission (newer trucks w/ E4OD automatic).
Preferably you'll find a computer with the same tranny (auto or manual) but either will work.
The programming changes between different PN computers is so miniscule you won't notice it and it'll run fine.
If you want to be totally sure, you can get a pinout diagram from fordfuelinjection.com or a Haynes manual and go over the pinouts with continuity tests to make sure all the wires are right. Can even get a harness from FFI.
no fire no aminal i spent hours with multi meter and in from lbattery along the right side thaen along the fire wall into the cab i get continuitty readings from different wires i have added more body grounds and replaced some when this all started i had no power no lights i got out slammed the door it started and all power came back ii drove about a mile and it happened again &again so i started with the mul meter
thanx
BARK EATER01 out
There should be three grounds going to the computer, I believe they come in on pins 20, 40 and 60. They should all read under 5ohms. If they are all good, and youre killing computers I would suspect the 12V suppply going to the computer.
Even a short between ground and a signal or reference wire can cause the computer to die. I've never seen anyone on here have this problem but it can happen.
Are you sure you're not shorting stuff while you're testing?
Some sensors have their own ground wires, such as the TPS. If the key is on, and the ground wire and signal wire short - it'll fry the computer usually (example).
no i did not start testing and messing around with it untill the second computer went fun bags up thanks still working the issue while saving for the computer
barkeater out
lets step back a little now you say you got in your truck no power so you turned the key on nothing? you did't hear the fuel pump kick in or the stater when you turned the key or it tured over but it did not start is this correct?
but you did say when you got it running did it run fine? if it did you might have a differit problem not the computer mybe.
