hotrodding v10

hi from australia everyone first time on your foram

i am looking at a v10 motor @ auto trans to go into a 34 three window hotrod . the motor is complete with engine and trans loome but no computers or body loome
i read in a thread that it was possable to ninimise the electrics and old school this motor witch would suit a hotrod anyway
i think this is a 3v.v10 but need to know how to identify this engine as it is not normaly avalable in australia
any information would be greatley appreciated

There is a company (I do not have the link but I think Charlie does) that has some experience with low tech on the V10... pretty sure it is the 2v Version

The best way to tell the 2v from the 3v is the exhaust manifolds and intake plastic intake manifold

The 2v exhaust is a cast header that each port goes into square and direct straight out from the motor.... on the 3V version the header is a better flow design with each motor port exiting and running to the rear in a steeped fashion... the front port close to the motor and the rear most port having the header further away from the motor

On the intake of a 3v motor there is a motorized black box with linkages in the very front to actuate the internal vane/dampener ( big butterfly valve) on the 2v just looks like a standard intake manifold

Hope this helps...cool project

If I was you I would morph the entire electrics in also just for the excellent power-train control they provide (trans and motor are controlled as a power train unit)

I am going to morph a 2v V10 into a 23"T" bucket kit car and still fussing with old skool or new tech... But in my case the open motor needs to look real cool so I think I will find a way to put a big chrome carb on top and use some version of a MSD type electronic ignition and manual tranny

Another way to tell 3-valve vs. 2-valve is the valve covers are aluminum on the 3-valve, and plastic on the 2-valve (at least, the 3-valvers I saw had aluminum valve covers).

If you have the gumption, you can certainly "old school" it. There are propane versions of these motors, I wonder if they just put a propane injection on the standard throttle-body flange, or is it a different intake?

Anyway, good luck with it! Sounds REALLY cool!

Get back to us, let us know if it's a 3-valver. If it is, you might be better off just wiring the plenum flapper wide-open (opening up both intake runners) and forgetting about low-end torque
