Engine paint color question

can anyone tell me what color(s) v8 engines were painted in 55 f-100's. I am thinking of using an original color scheme on the 429 I am installing.

Pictures would be very helpful

Yellow I think, but check out Earl's (Our illustrious moderator) website for more info about Ford truck specs than you'll ever want to know.

The 239's V-8's in 1955 were yellow with argent (silver) valve colors. The 2 big truck engines, not sure of the size with out looking, were red with argent valve colors. SO if you got a '55 F-100 it was yellow.

Thanks, I think that I'll probably follow the big truck paint scheme, red with argent valve covers

How do I get to Earl's website. I am restoring a 59 short bed style side to its exact factory condition and I have been searching everywhere for info on interior paint, upholstery, etc.

I am going to paint the truck with a heavy metallic gold with white grille, bumpers and roof (the firewall will be white as well, I think the yellow will be too light

If you had a 51 ford with a 72 302, would you paint the engine of the year of the truck or the engine?

What are the colors for 51 truck motor and a 72 302??
