My 2000 F350 with 8" lift and 38s, the front driveline towards the top moves back and forth when i yank on it. The reason i was checking this was i hear a clunk noise when in 4wd and was pointed in that direction to check. Is that just a bad u-joint, should it move, or is it something else all together?
shouldnt be any movement by hand in the drivelines unless the u joints are bad. front shaft toward the top ? could be in the output shaft is wearing. You got a leak at the transfer case? Did you maintain the proper running angles when you lifted it ? If you change the u joints , make sure you keep them in alignment with each other.
