I have a 400 I want to put in my 76 F150 4x4. Seeing as this engine was not offered in 76s, I was wondering if I would have to do any modifications (besides the perches). I figured the frames were the same from 73-79 but want to make sure. Also will I have any problems trying to get headers to fit?
Theres a 300 L6 in it now. Its stripped down to bare frame so it will be easy to swap. According to the VIN it originally had a 360 but a previous owner swapped it out for the 300.

Reason: oops
Thank you Mil1ion I wasnt sure if they came in 76 or not I didnt realize this until a day or so later. My bad, now I know and knowing is half the battle.
You will need a transmission to bolt to the 400, b/c the 300 has a different bell housing pattern than the 400.
You could get a transmission from a truck with a 351M, 400, or 460(all have same bell housing pattern).
