so heres the deal im swapping an np 435 from an early 80's f150 into a 95 f150 i got a bell housing for the new trans from an 83 (i think) f150 and it has 2 bolt holes where the slave cylinder mounts. i looked up a slave cylinder at work but didnt see how i could mount to the bell housing unless i am missing some sort of bracket. did they change the slave cylinders on these trucks during the early 80's? i will post a picture of the bell housing as soon as i find my camera oh yeah the truck has a 4.9 and is 4wd if that makes any difference
I think 84 was the first year of the external slave cylinder. Before that they were all mechanical. Your mazda tranny had an internal slave cylinder. If the bellhousing is an external slave type, you will need to change your hydraulic line and slave to the correct type. If you have the manual linkage, a little engineering will have to be done. The hydraulic has the ears for the external slave molded onto it from the factory.
thanks Mudman
i ordered everything that i should need but like i said i dont know how the slave is supposed to mount to the bell housing via those two bolt holes unless i am missing a bracket that hold the slave cylinder maybe someone can clear this up for me
well ill take a look when i go back to the junkyard when i go to get my driveshaft or else im gonna have to put my fabrication skills to the test and make one
