Question front caliper

94 bronco 351 auto.....after reading up on how to change the front pads found that the caliper on this 94 bronco (used) had two bolts holding it togeather instead of the pins that all the books ive seen show...is this right - bolts not pins???..after reattaching the bolts it seemed the caliper could move a bit up and down is this normal the mounting bolts only attach in the inside half of the caliper....funny the hole replacement just seemed to easy am i missing something...thanks

Some brake calipers use pins, some bolts, some of the older Ford dual pistons even use a heavy notched spring that you drive in between the caliper and the caliper retainer and then secured with a bolt. Not sure about the up and down movement but that could be normal. How much movement are you talking about? Have you removed the calipers and checked the caliper retaining bracket for egg shaped openings from wear?

thanks for the reply...the movement is not very much...as u said it may be normal as i got the caliper movement after compressing the piston a bit before removeing the bolts...im just surprised that the mounting bolts dont go all the way through the caliper from the inside half to the outside half seems to me it would be more secure...seems the bolts are only about 3in. long and it goes through a small sleve that has a small spring on each end of it...i take it that the springs move the caliper when applying the brakes not the pads as the pads were held in place with two clips on each side of the rotor...anyway they seem to be working but never noticed that the wheel seems to get hot now with new pads on i checked to see if they were binding and everything seems to be ok...soooooo.....thanks
