I know that I want to move to a diesel for my toy truck. I currently have a 94 150 RCLB as my experiment. I am building a new power train because 1) every man should do it at least once and 2) I am planning on doing a frame off on a larger truck.
I am pretty set on the 94-97 Powerstroke just because that is my favorite body style of Ford Trucks. I am seeking a EC LB 4x4 Black with gray interior. Bonus if it is made in Canada! I am ok with high mileage because I am planning on taking it all apart anyway; I am undecided between stick or auto; I am all about building a Clydesdale of a truck.
I am looking to hear all of your experiences with these trucks and what I should look for.
Im with the stick as well. When you have it all apart, a flywheel replacement is a definate MUST. New down pipe will be easier to install while the tranny is out. All I can think of as far as absolute must do's.
Even if your not going to pull with it, Get the Stick. There is nothing like shaking hands with your truck every time you drive it.
I love it!
That is fantastic!
I am a huge fan of the Zf. I just got done rebuilding the one for my small block and I am nothing but impressed with quality. I also love the idea of a twin stick.
What about your experiences with the powertrain. I have owned two of these trucks in gas (93 4.9, and 94 302/351) so I expect the frame and body to be nearly identical as far as maintainence goes. The new stuff to me will be the engine and axles.
How do those age and what should I be considering when buying?
