DirecTV and Dish are paid subscription programming, Satellites have channels from all over the world that are free. I was wondering if anyone here has one.

Just Google Fee To Air and check out the satellites, you won't be receiving all English speaking channels or what your used to on pay satellite subscriptions.

I have one.
How do you figure it's free?

Here Unfortunately it costs $45.00/month to get television channels to watch, plus 45 radio stations to listen to

Google: Star Choice

Canadians were opting to purchase a grey market satellite system for the U.S. Directv and Dish Network services.

I have Dish Network which is paid programming, FTA is free satellite channels from all over, not your normal run of the mill programming.

I talked with a guy at the dog park several times about this subject and he said you can get EVERYTHING with the FTA setup. He suggested the coolsat setup. I understand that you need a dish, cable, box and your ready to go. He did mention programming for the box that can be found on some BBS / web boards, but I haven't gotten that far with it yet.

I did ask several times and he said you get everything, HBO, showtime, PPV, ...

I've seen these systems on eBay after checking sadoun.com and one seller seems to have great feed back.

www.dsstester.com forums:
http://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/index.php?
have a disscussion forum for FTA.

Sounds like a great deal, one time investment and your set.

karljay you might be talking about booter cards and hacks. Some people like to play games recieving illegal satellite signals. HBO & showtime are paid programming.

Probably depends on whether it's encrypted or not.

If it's encrypted, it ain't legal to decode...

No it's not legal.

We are governed by the CRTC.

Bars used to have them and that's where I got my experience dealing with them.
I was forever having to go to the lounge part of the restaurant to move and set the dish to another satellite for "the game".

There are Cnd/US border people that have them ,but most of them are in rural areas like farms & Ranches.
