first things first

Just found and purchased '68 F100 with 360- Runs and drives good. Where do I start if I want to begin the restoration process?

Oh man, you need to put up more info than that. For me, the first thing is always the brakes. Do you want to upgrade them? Are the brake lines rusty? If the truck won't go you can always stay home, but if it won't stop ....

How are the body mounts? Got rust? How's the bed? Radiator good and clean? What's the interior like? Good windshield? So much depends on the vehicle...

Is this going to be your daily driver while you are doing the work?

We are here to help.

Drove it home today and it stopped fine; however, the bottle of brake fluid may be a sign. The seller did mention it was leaking fluid from the right front (he thought). Sound like that might be a good place to start.

I recently purchased a '70 that was sitting for 15+ years. I decided I wanted to drive it rather than tear it totally apart, so here's the things I did to get it going.

Changed all fluids, new set of plugs, new battery, new battery cables, new starter solenoid, new voltage regulator, a few new hoses and it was running. I also put some fresh tires on and cleaned up the rims.

For the brakes I changed the master cylinder, all wheel cylinders, repacked bearings, new rubber lines all around, visual inspection of all brake hardware to ensure it was in good working order.

I also went over the electrical system and got all the lights and accessories back up to spec.

I've been tuning it here and there for the past few weeks and drove it to work the past 2 days. I have it just about where I want it and now it's little things that need attention.

Hope this helps, good luck with yours.
Eric

Eric, that's a great starter list. One more thing to check is the radiator - if it's original it's probably near the end of its life.
