I think I have a faulty MFS. I have searched hundreds of posts, but could not find one with a breakdown of removing the shroud. I read that is easier to remove by removing the lock cylinder, what else is required to remove the plastic shroud? Thanks...
Yeah. About 4 screws from underneath. The black cover pops right off the key cylinder. Before you replace the MFS, check the wires that plug into the connector. I have a 2000 and found that the problems I was having with the turn signals was not the switch. A few of the clips holding the wires inside the connector had broken off and were causing a bad connection. Just bought a new plug and inserted the wires into it.
The lock cylinder must be removed to remove the lower shroud.
Disconnect battery.
Turn ignition key to RUN position.
Insert a small round object such as a 1/8" alllen through the hole in the bottom of the shroud, locate the corresponding detent on the bottom of the cylinder housing, and depress it (takes some patience/practice).
Fixed brake light problem. Wire was loose I suppose from tilting wheel. I bent the ends of the connector in a little and plugged it back in. Works like new. Thanks..
