First time doing a full 4 wheel ABS brake job. Also first time with 4 wheel disks.
Normally I would just pull the caliper, put a C clamp on it and compress it.
However..... Now I have been told that that *MIGHT* damage the ABS system in some way. The proper way is to open the bleeder valve, compress the caliper, close valve .. THEN remove the caliper & replace pads. Top off master cylinder & you're done.
Can anyone tell me which is right or if both work?????
It doesn't matter if you compress the caliper before or after you remove it.The main reason for opening the bleeder is so that any contaminated fluid is not pushed back through the system.
