Fan clutch replacement ??

Fan clutch replacement ??

Are any special tools needed for the fan clutch replacement ??
Do you pull the rad.. ?? Water pump ?? Or what ??
I know the shroud will come off, but what else ??
Any and all help appreciated.......

I do know there is a special tool to get the fan off...trying to find that one myself....maybe someone here knows where to get that.

The fan shroud had to come off with my fan. Not enough room to do it otherwise.

I used a large adjustable wrench and a #3 crowsfoot (to wedge under the pulley. Pretty easy to get off after that. The crowsfoot does not need a lot of pressure to hold the pulley. You just need some type of resistance.

I used a big ol pipe wrench for the nut and a big C clamp to hold the pully to break her free, and then after that she just spins off. I also had to pull my shroud along with the fan.

Just a note the hub nut has right hand threads you will need to turn the nut CC to remove.

I just used a big hamer and a chisel, It comes off counter clockwise. One big hit and it will come off. Do the same putting it bach on.

Yes. Borrow them from Autozone for free or buy them. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=90341

That's it. Leave the belt in place to help hold it and it goes pretty easily....but the clutch will be very very tight.
