Reverse Light Problem

hey guys im nearly done fixin my truck for the road my last problem is my reverse lights when i got the truck some idiot cut the light holders out so i got new ones to replace them but they didnt work... my best guess is that the other end of the wire may not be properly connected so i need help finding out exactly where it is the reverse light wires go ive tried following the wire back to the engine compartment but there are a set of black/red wires just like for the reverse lights that make me think those are them i followed the wires from it and the other end look like a plug in piece only problem is iu dunno where to plug it in i spent 20 min under the truck seeing if i can find a connector but couldnt see anything really my truck is a 1977 XLT f150 4x4 with a 4 speed transmission so if you guys can help me id appreciate it

Should be at the back where the linkage would activate the NSS.

My '73 F100 2wd 390 T18 4spd has the neutral switch mounted into the top of the transmission just to the rear of the shifter. From underneith, I can feel the sensor and wire connetion, but I can't see it. I would guess yours should be there too.
